DECEMBER 2022 BOARD MINUTES

In attendance: Bryan Evenson, Metts Potter, Dave Harsh, Keith Peace, Andy Melchers, Rob and Roxanne Westendorf, Wayne Wiscerherath, Greg McCabe

Meeting started at 7:00 PM at Listermann’s Tap Room

Beermas

•  First night tonight

• 2nd night on Thursday, December 15th at Third Eye Brewing

• 3rd night on Wednesday, December 21st at Sam Adams Tap Room

• Keith to divide up membership contact list among board members.  All board members are to personally contact current and former members reminding them of the Beermas events.

Listermann’s Tap Takeover Competition discussion

• Wayne presented the proposed rules for the competition.  Additions and changes to the proposed guidelines are as follows:

• Once a recipe wins, that recipe is retired from the competition

• Registration deadline is 2 days before judging.  Entrants must bring their beer if they cannot drop off their beer at Listermann’s one week prior to judging.

• Beer must be at the meeting no later than 7PM to guarantee it will be judged

• Need to confirm that Allen has the Bosmo tap and that it will be staying at Listermann’s

• May extend to ciders in later competitions

• February competition will be only for Bloatarian members.  Will open up to anyone with the April competition.

• Proposed Beer & Sweat runner-up for the January brewer.  Andy will contact to see if they are available.

Membership

• Bryan to send the latest membership list to Keith so he can start tracking current and delinquent members

• Keith is to coordinate with Ray to update the list when a member joins or renews

Christian Moerlein Bockfest Brewout

• Rob and Roxanne will be meeting with Greg on Friday at 6 PM to discuss final details for the brewout

• There will be covered heated spaces for the brewers

• Final details will be shared with the club once they are settled

Bockfest Judging

• Judging will be at Liberty Home Association on February 25th.

• Keith to shadow Rob at Bockfest to get a better understanding of requirements for Beer and Sweat competition coordinator

Other meeting locations

• Keith will be touring Union Hall in Covingtion for a possible Beer and Sweat location and a regular meeting location

• Keith will also be checking with a town hall in Mt. Healthy for possible Holiday Party and future club meeting location

Minister of Propoganda

• Andy will be transitioning responsibilities to Metts in December.  Will need to coordinate a meeting time for account transition.

Future Meetings

• January Board Meeting and Social Night at Esoteric Brewing @ 7PM on January 10th

• Holiday Party on January 14th @ TBD.  Starts at 5 PM with dinner starting at 6 PM.

• Next Missing Link competition.  Will discuss lessons learned with the yeast from the last competition.  TBD, probably either March or April meeting.

• Proposed meeting topic: ciders, kombucha or other alternative fermentables.  Would need someone skilled to lead the meeting.

Apparel

• Keith is organizing an Bloatarian apparel sale in January.  The sale will be open for one week.  Metts to coordinate advertising the apparel options.

• Related thought: create a 2023 Beermas shirt/sweater and then Beermas sites add a discount if you are wearing the shirt?  Will revisit this item in fall 2023.

Gorman Heritage Farms

• Greg McCabe has a contact at Gorman Heritage Farms.  Gorman Heritage Farms has expressed interest in hosting a brewing demonstration

• May consider a pro-am partnership for the event, or special ingredients grown at Gorman

• Bryan to make introductions and discuss possibilities
